Summer Magic Returns To The CW

The CW Network has set its Summer 2018 schedule and the magical dynamic duo of Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Masters of Illusion all return with new episodes in June.  The fifth season of the comedy magic series Penn & Teller: Fool Us returns  Mondays at 8:00pm ET/PT while Masters Of Illusion will be seen on Fridays at 8:00pm ET/PT.

The competition series Penn & Teller: Fool Us premieres Monday, June 25. The show is created and produced by 117 PRODUCTIONS and September Films (part of DCD Media), with executive producers Penn Jillette, Teller, Peter Adam Golden, Andrew Golder and Lincoln Hiatt.  A special one off episode Penn and Teller’s April-Fool Us! was broadcast on 1st April 2018 as a precursor to Season five.

The first two seasons of Fool Us were hosted by Jonathan Ross. Alyson Hannigan has hosted the series for the next three seasons, including the upcoming Season 5. The first season of Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London, England  and at the Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas Season 2 onward.

The show was revived in 2009 and broadcast on MyNetworkTV. In 2012, MOI was presented as four different specials and run in syndication. The series was revived by The CW with new episodes in 2014, featuring new performers and hosted by Dean Cain.The CW has renewed the show every year since then and it is now entering it’s 7th season.

   This is my go to TV show for magic. Ever since they moved it to their theater in Las Vegas, it’s attracted a much wider variety of magicians and they’ve even brought back some of the acts from the UK version such as Morgan and West.

   If you like this I also recommend “Magic For Humans” on Netflix. It showcases the presentation side of magic far more and the writing is exceptional. Some of the routines are based on simple principles but they’ve been dressed up in original and very engaging ways.
